Anna-Lena Wölwer

Hi, I’m Anna-Lena Wölwer. I am a PhD student at the Chair of Economic and Social Statistics at the University of Trier in Germany and worked there as a survey statistician, R programmer, and researcher. I’ve joined the Statistics Globe team in January 2022, and below I will tell you about my professional background and my range of responsibilities on Statistics Globe.

After a bachelor’s degree in Economics, I completed a master’s degree in Economics and Survey Statistics at the University of Trier and received an EMOS certificate. I especially enjoyed sharing my knowledge of statistics by working as a statistics tutor. I started my PhD studies at the Chair of Economic and Social Statistics after my graduation and worked there until the end of 2021. Currently, I am finishing my PhD studies.

Joachim and I know each other since our master’s degree in Survey Statistics, where we have worked together on many university projects. I’m happy that we can now continue this collaboration in the course of new projects for the Statistics Globe platform.

If you are interested, check out my information at Trier University, ORCiD, ResearchGate, Google Scholar.

On Statistics Globe, I’m mainly responsible for the following tasks:

1) I create new R programming tutorials for the Statistics Globe website. Hereby, I focus on topics such as the data.table package, the manipulation of data sets, and the efficiency of different types of R code.

2) I’m responsible for the extension of the Statistical Methods section on Statistics Globe. This includes the creation of articles explaining the theory behind topics such as small area estimation, statistical modelling, and survey sampling.

3) Last but not least, I work on the further development of new content types. This task contains the improvement of current tutorial structures on the website, as well as the conception of new video formats on the YouTube channel.

Thanks a lot for the very kind feedback! Glad you like the tutorials on Statistics Globe!

I do not have any contacts to employees in Germany, so unfortunately I won’t be able to help you find a new job.

I wish you the best of luck for your search, though!

      Regards,
      Joachim
